  14. A friend of mine is having oil pressure problems with the 2.2l engine in
  15. his '84 Aries.  When he first starts the car, the oil pressure light stays
  16. on at idle and the engine is quite noisy for the first few minutes.  Then,
  17. once the oils heats up (I guess), the light goes off, and the engine quiets
  18. down.  I should emphasis that this takes a few minutes, not a few seconds
  19. for this to happen.

  21. He hasn't checked much yet - he suspected it might be a partially plugged
  22. oil filter, but an oil & filter change had no effect.

  24. My first thought was worn bearings, but I changed my mind deciding that if
  25. this were the case the reverse would happen - the problem would only appear
  26. after the engine warmed up and the oil thinned itself out.  Guess #2 is a
  27. blockage like a partially plugged pickup tube that lets the oil pass a bit
  28. better once warm...
