  23. I had the same problem with my 1989 GMC Jimmy's digital dash. It is a
  24. two color (green and blue) vacuum fluorescent type. In my case, it would
  25. fade out gradually, then pop back on bright again. Eventually, it was
  26. faded out 99% of the time making it impossible to read the gauges including
  27. the speedo!

  33. Fortunately, mine was fixed under warranty. I was told that they cannot be
  34. repaired and must be replaced as a "unit" (yea, sure). I never thought to
  35. ask how much it would have cost me outside of the warranty period.

  37. The dealer should be able to quote you a price over the phone to replace
  38. the part. Find out how much the dealer wants, panic, then check out some
  39. independant garages and/or auto electric shops. My guess is that there's
  40. some sort of voltage regulator on the printed circuit board assembly, and
  41. it can probably be replaced.
