- I had the same problem with my 1989 GMC Jimmy's digital dash. It is a
- two color (green and blue) vacuum fluorescent type. In my case, it would
- fade out gradually, then pop back on bright again. Eventually, it was
- faded out 99% of the time making it impossible to read the gauges including
- the speedo!

- Fortunately, mine was fixed under warranty. I was told that they cannot be
- repaired and must be replaced as a "unit" (yea, sure). I never thought to
- ask how much it would have cost me outside of the warranty period.

- The dealer should be able to quote you a price over the phone to replace
- the part. Find out how much the dealer wants, panic, then check out some
- independant garages and/or auto electric shops. My guess is that there's
- some sort of voltage regulator on the printed circuit board assembly, and
- it can probably be replaced.
