- You sound like you don't beleive in the #30. Hmm.
-
- First, It is amazingly good. But that's not your
- real question, is it? You want to know how such
- snake oil can work.
-
- It isn't snake oil. I don't know your level of
- experience in digital and analog engineering, but
- implementing D-A-Cs, clock circuits, and reconstruction
- filters is neither easy nor cheap. Arguaments of
- "a bit is a bit" show a lack of understanding:
- the problems in digital audio are predominantly analog.
- Furthermore, there is no such thing as a digital signal
- anyway, only analog signals which are interpreted by
- digital recognition and coding rules. Enough theory.
-
- The Levinson #30 is, in my opinion, far and away the
- best processor I've ever heard. of course, for
- $15 grand, it better be. Is it 15x better than
- a $1k processor? Dunno, what do you value?
-
- Max, JJ, and a few others can give the best descriptions
- of what's so hard about digital audio. BGut that's all
- been done before, and I doubt they want to drag it all
- up again. To convince yourself, just try to build one.
- Its harder than you might think, and the performance of
- off-the shelf components is just FULL of surprises.
-
- Since you spent more than $79.96 for your NAK, I'll
- presume that you DO hear SOME differences between
- audio compoennts. Right?
