  23. First, It is amazingly good.  But that's not your
  24. real question, is it?  You want to know how such
  25. snake oil can work.

  27. It isn't snake oil.  I don't know your level of
  28. experience in digital and analog engineering, but
  29. implementing D-A-Cs, clock circuits, and reconstruction
  30. filters is neither easy nor cheap.  Arguaments of
  31. "a bit is a bit" show a lack of understanding:
  32. the problems in digital audio are predominantly analog.
  33. Furthermore, there is no such thing as a digital signal
  34. anyway, only analog signals which are interpreted by
  35. digital recognition and coding rules.  Enough theory.

  37. The Levinson #30 is, in my opinion, far and away the
  38. best processor I've ever heard.  of course, for
  39. $15 grand, it better be.  Is it 15x better than
  40. a $1k processor?  Dunno, what do you value?

  42. Max, JJ, and a few others can give the best descriptions
  43. of what's so hard about digital audio.  BGut that's all
  44. been done before, and I doubt they want to drag it all 
  45. up again.  To convince yourself, just try to build one.
  46. Its harder than you might think, and the performance of
  47. off-the shelf components is just FULL of surprises.

  50. presume that you DO hear SOME differences between
  51. audio compoennts.  Right?
