  12. The windshield in my Honda developed a crack and has to be replaced.
  13. I contacted my Honda dealer and received a price quote for parts,
  14. labor and tax.

  16. I then contacted my insurance company to see if they'd help pay for
  17. it and they referred me to their preferred auto-glass franchise.

  19. The latter's price is about $150 less (and they'll do it in the
  20. parking lot while I'm at work!) The Honda fella explained that
  21. his shop uses Honda parts and other places use non-Honda replacement
  22. parts. I figured it was also principally because a car dealer charges
  23. more for everything.

  25. I've decided to go with cheap and convenient (big surprise, eh?,) but
  26. I'm paranoid enough to wonder whether there is any real difference in
  27. specs between windshield glass that Honda sells and brand-X windshield
  28. glass.

  30. I mean, will the first gnat/snow-flake to hit the shiny new non-Honda
  31. windshield cause the glass to shatter into a bizillion pieces?
