- The original poster was from Purdue University, about 100 miles to the
- east of my location (central Illinois). My experience with snow tires
- told me I don't need them here. Snow tires would give a bit better traction
- than 2-ply bias tires on SNOW. I have all seasons radial tires now
- and they work fine for the amount of snow we get here.

- But snow tires DO NOT buy you anything on ice. Nothing short of tank
- tracts can. (May be studded tires which are prohibited in Illinois.)
- Slow down and give extra braking distance will reduce the skidding
- risk. But if it is icey like during freezing rain, avoid driving.
