  27. During the past twelve months, PLF awarded grants totalling
  28. $18,750 -- the largest amount in our history! In addition to our
  29. grants and loans to community organizations that have impact on
  30. areas such as health, the environment, hunger relief and the arts,
  31. our fund has broken new ground in its support for new groups like
  32. the Network of Black Organizers.
  33.  
  34. War tax resistance received an unprecedented degree of national
  35. media attention [and] organizing support because of the struggle
  36. of Randy Kehler and Betsy Corner.
  37.  
  38. And locally, war tax resistance continued to build momentum and
  39. popular support through the work of the Alternative Revenue
  40. Service (ARS) program, which in its second year redirected
  41. $8,366.57 in resisted war taxes to alternative funds throughout
  42. the United States, including $1,693.75 designated for the New York
  43. City People's Life Fund.

  45. This demonstrated the level of discontent with a system that
  46. channels 54% of our tax dollars in Fiscal Year 1992 for military
  47. spending, despite the "end" of the cold war.
  48.  
  49. SUPPORT THE NATIONAL WAR TAX RESISTANCE COORDINATING COMMITTEE!
  50. NWTRCC is the cement for numerous war tax resistance communities
  51. throughout the country, and they provide critical information and
  52. support to alternative funds like PLF.  We're making a special
  53. request that you designate a part of your PLF contribution to
  54. further support the work of NWTRCC.
  55.  
  56. We're also asking you to contribute to our War Tax Resistance
  57. Expense Fund, which enables us to mail information and perform the
  58. administrative work of PLF.
  59.  
  60. INCREASING PLF SUPPORT: In addition to dispositing war tax money
  61. or making contributions, we encourage you to use the People's Life
  62. Fund as a socially responsible bank. In other words, lend us an
  63. amount for a designated period, and let us keep the interest. By
  64. doing this, you'll be helping us to increase our assets in another
  65. important way. ...

  67. It's imperative that you come out to support PLF. By doing so, you
  68. also support and strengthen the numerous community groups in our
