  24. MEXICO CITY POLLUTION WORSENS IN SUMMER MONTHS

  26. Mexico City, the most polluted city in the world, will soon enter
  27. its worst three-month period of the year. A flexible school
  28. schedule has been established to allow for school closings due to
  29. high levels of pollution. A campaign to purify the air includes
  30. planting 130 million trees and plans to close down industries as
  31. well as schools during the days when pollution levels are highest.
  32. The first of 23 centers have opened to analyze emissions from
  33. millions and millions of rented Volkswagons. Measures have also
  34. been taken against trucks and buses which emit high levels of
  35. pollutants. The Mexican oil company, PEMEX, says it has started
  36. selling a special kind of gasoline to reduce summer pollution.

  38. The government has demanded that private vehicles be inspected
  39. annually, and that the number of vehicles allowed to circulate
