  13. Hi folks,
  14. I'm working on a vlsi cad system that requires a C compiler somewhere, and
  15. three years ago, we choose to use gcc for it's parametrizarion possibilities.
  16. We described a foolish target architecture, had gcc compile to its assembler
  17. code, and once this file created, we where happy. At least I was.
  18. This worked just fine with conventions of gcc1.39, and today I noticed
  19. that the system administrator had ftped some later version of gcc, and
  20. discarded the old one.
  21. I said to myself ``go on boy, let's see if you're still able to build gcc for
  22. your machine''

  24. Too bad, I'm not!
  25. I renamed the configuration file, read the INSTALL, the ChangeLogs, and noticed
  26. some stuff that implies my machine wont allow the compiler to compile.
  27. I haven't read the *info* yet, but I saw the birth of TRAMPOLINE stuffs, and
  28. I'm afraid other things of that style where added.
  29. So I've got two questions :
  30. 1) Where can I get the gcc-1.39 sources
  31. 2) Have I any interest in changing to 2.3.2, and if yes, are the descriptions
  32.    subject to change with new version ? (I'm about to end my thesis, and I
  33.    guess my work will be of interest only if it can be recompiled in the futur,
  34.    myself having left the lab...)
