- This question probably reveal my ignorance, but here goes anyway....
-
- Background:
- We are running a DECsystem 5000/120 with ULTRIX 4.2A. We are
- running a couple of terminal servers on ethernet to give us a 16
- user system. There are a mixture of DEC VT220 terminals and VT220
- clones connected for normal user logins. The clones all seem to
- have a specific <ESCAPE> key that returns the ASCII ESC character.
- The DEC VT220 terminals have a key labeled F11(ESC) and no other key
- that would indicate an ESC function. This F11 key does not return
- a nomal ASCII ESC, but instead gives a sequence of characters
- starting with an ESC.
-
- Problem:
- When in vi (or any other program expecting an ESC character) using
- one of the DEC VT220 terminals, how do you generate an ESC with a
- single keystroke (other than ^[)? Or is there a way to change the
- termcap (or whatever) for the VT220 terminal so that it will deal
- properly with the string of characters generated?
