  10. I am trying to run automount on our DECstation 3100, running Ultrix
  11. 4.2. When I start up automount, it seems to run fine, and it provides
  12. access to the directories I told it about on wuarchive.wustl.edu and
  13. gatekeeper.dec.com. However, when I then go away and do other work,
  14. automount will hang in a D state (as reported by ps) and attempts to
  15. access either the / directory with ls, or any of the NFS mounted
  16. directories handled by automount with ls, hangs. In fact I am unable
  17. to regain control of my terminal, so I have to log in on another
  18. terminal. The ls processes are also hung in D state, and can't
  19. be killed. Nor can the automount process be killed.

  21. The only way to fix automount and remove the hung processes is to
  22. reboot.

  24. What am I doing wrong?
