- I am currently using PC/NFS to connect my DOS laptop over ethernet
- to connect to my SCO Unix box. It works quite well, but I would like
- to have access to the tape drive on my Unix box from my DOS PC.
-
- When I do a PC/NFS mount of a Unix directory, named pipes and devices
- aren't even listed in a directory. I would like to back up my DOS PC
- directly to the Unix tape drive. I don't have the free disk space on
- my Unix box to make a temporary file.
-
- Thanx for your help.
-
- P.S.
-
- The net might be interested in my configuration on the PC.
-
- I am using a SHARP 20 Mhz 386sl notebook, with 2 Meg ram,
- 80 Meg hard disk. Connected to the notebook parallel port
- I have a Xircom Pocket Adapter. I am using LPT2 on the
- notebook so that I can use the Extended Parallel Port
- driver.
-
- I am running version 2 of Stacker to get more disk space,
- but I am only 'Stacking' my programs, no data and not
- my essential programs such as 'command.com', and 'chkdsk'.
-
- I have the Xircom drivers, the NFS drivers, and stacker
- all loaded and have tested the NFS throughput using
- Fastback Plus at about 2 Megabytes per minute. Not greater,
- but a lot better than backing up to 100 floppies.
