- :Xenix 2.3.4 runs fine with my ET-4000 with 1MB. I have run SCO X Windows for Xenix
- :on it. (Got a grafinfo file for the Orchid Prodesigner-II to make it work.) I
- :also run mgr. Oh, the X I ran in 800x600 mode. 16 colors, of course.
-
- Running 800x600 16 colors will work on any VGA card I've ever
- tried. The trick is to get them to run in the higher resolutions.
-
- I've never had any luck with cards running the ET-4000 chipset
- unless it's specifically defined in the grafinfo database. I
- spent at least a half-day with one card trying all combinations
- of every grafinfo file with the ET-4000. Many times it required
- doing an ALT-F1 and logging in and shutting down on a very
- scrambled screen when the definition was way off :-).
-
- My solution is to buy a card that I know works, and save myself a
- lot of grief (now if I could only justify an ATI ultra...:-).
