  14. Here is a summary of the responses I received regarding by request for
  15. what tape drives people are using in their 386bsd systems.  A good list of
  16. SCSI tape drives is part of the hardware list that has been posted to this
  17. group before.

  22. I am using a Tandberg TDC 3660 and I am pretty happy with it.
  23. BTW: The TDC 3660 is a QIC-150 tape drive.

  29. i would suppose that most sensible SCSI tape drives would work.
  30. I have an archive 2150 that works well with both the driver
  31. in the distribution kernel and julians' SCSI drivers.

  35. Yes, Archive is a brand name, it formerly was a company.
  36. I believe the company was purchased by another company
  37. named Maynard.

  41. I use a Wantek 5150ES SCSI tape drive on an Adaptec 1542B.
  42. It streams constantly and works without any errors.

  44. My system:
  45. No name i386/i387 33 Mhz AT clone with 177MB and 245MB IDE drive.
  46. The tape drive is the only device on the SCSI bus.

  48. Usually I use the tape drive in single user mode with dump(8) and
  49. restore(8). Dumping it streams for at least 10 minutes without a break even
  50. for the partitions I spool News and keep my comp.unix.bsd archive (~12 MB
  51. since september).
  52. My cartriges are all 250MB ones and I checked the correct writing alot, no
  53. errors yet.
