  17. When I preprocess a file that does a lot of including and a lot of defining, I
  18. get the following message:

  20. 1288-228: (S) System resource has been exhausted. Preprocessing ended.

  22. We've increased the amount of paging space many times, but the error still
  23. occurs. File descriptors would not seem to be the problem as I am able to
  24. open 2000 of them.

  26. IBM support (so far) has been unable to tell us what is running out.
