- If the machines have AUI connectors you need a tranceiver in any case
- and you can get thick/thin/10BT on the other end for about the same
- price. You should be able to find an 8 port unmanaged 10BT hub for
- $400 or less, and I'd go that route if at all possible because:
- (a) If you already have 4 machines you'll probably end up with more.
- (b) You probably like to move them around - twisted pair wire is cheap.
- (c) You'll probably get portable units in the future.
- With 10BT you can disconnect any unit without bothering anything else.
- For example I have a lunchbox size 486 on my desk at work (w/500M disk
- and a tape drive...) that I can unclip and take home or set up a temporary
- network elsewhere without worrying about re-terminating any cables.
