- Sun spent a lot of time encouraging software vendors to port to UNIX in the
- first place. Did IBM or DEC? Not until very recently. Did HP? Only when the
- software didn't compete with it's own products. These software vendors feel
- that they have an investment in Sun for making this UNIX software market
- possible. Sun is the vendor that said all along "Standards, standards,
- standards!"
