I had a hell of a hard time getting those damn SunPro/SunTech software licensing installed.
Here's my horror story...
I've received a copy of CDROM+install manual from SunPro/Tech? (I don't know
which "sun" anymore.) I've proceed to install the Sparcworks, Sunc, Sunc++
out of the CDROM. Keep reading the manual, I need to call up Sun password center? to obtain the password. I did, they told me I need some proof of puchase certificate(?), which I couldn't find on my shipment. I made ~5 calls to Sun Express,
local sales, contract admin, finally software support called me back 3 days
later, he told me I should have received something much earlier, call Sparcworks 2.0 for Solaris2.0. I proceed to make a search on my site, and found all the
previous shipments on 3 separate offices. I proceed to call up the Sun password
center and got down the password.
My question out of the story is: Isn't all this new licensing things
that came out suppose to make life easier for a sys admin? or it's only me
that having problem? I've enough to do on my hands, I don't this licensing
crab to complicate my life.
I would like people to comment about this. Flames are welcome too.
