- I'm having some wierd problems after upgrading a disk drive, and I'm
- hoping that some kind soul out there could lend me a clue.
-
- The machine is a Sun 4/75 running 4.1.2. We had a Sun 669 meg drive
- and we are upgrading it to an Andataco 1.2 gig drive. I put the new
- disk in the chain as ID 2 and partitioned it all out. On both disks
- there are 3 partitions: /, /usr, and /homex. (/home comes in via NFS)
- I duplicated the partitions with dump | restore, made the new disk
- bootable with installboot, went into eeprom and changed the
- boot-device to disk2, and it seemed to boot OK, EXCEPT for a small bus
- error in /etc/rc. It seems /usr/lib/expreserve is bus erroring. I
- soon find out that vi is also doing exactly the same thing. Everything
- else that I tried on the system worked perfectly: X, OW3, emacs, TeX.
- They all run fine. A trace on vi or expreserve reveals that they both
- do two mmap()'s right before they bail. I pulled over vi from another
- 4.1.2 sun4c machine, and it failed similarly.
-
- Any ideas?
