- Hello,
- we are managing a small to medium network of SUNs here at Mⁿnster.
- We have a lot of IPXes, ELCs, some SS 10 and some other machines (also SUNs).
- A lot of them have local discs, so we do not want a power-server
- machine but a different concept.
- Until now we have so-called packages on some of the machines, that
- are being distributed each night (if necessary). We also have a
- database that defines which files should be copied and which should
- be linked. But: This is a lot of work, and that's not what we want.
- We would appreciate a solution like this: Packages on different
- machines, and each time a user accesses a file it is copied to his
- local disc (if available). Thats a simple caching method, but we
- did not run into a program that provides this.
- Does anyone know a (good!) caching program or does anyone have
- a better solution to manage a network like ours?
- It would be really nice to get an answer of some experienced people!
-
- Thanks,
- Ulli
