- How do you mount a floppy disk? It seems
- that disks that I get from vendor's can
- sometimes be mounted and sometimes cannot.
- Tar and extract_unbundled work no matter if
- the floppy can be mounted or not.
-
- I have a product called TransferPro that can
- read/write/format MS-DOS/MAC/UNIX HD diskettes.
- When I format a diskette as Unix with TransferPro,
- It first does a format (which appears to be
- the same as an fdformat from the console output).
- Then TransferPro says, "creating unix file system".
- This extra step allows the floppy to be
- mounted. What exactly is this step doing?
-
- Wait...let me try something...BINGO...what Tpro
- does appears to be a "newfs /dev/rfdoa" that creates
- the file system. Now I can mount the floppy.
-
- Thanks anyway people, I love it when in the midst
- of posting off a question, I come up with
- my own answer. It happens regularly.

-
- P.S. I'll have to get rid of the ? in the
- subject line.
