- I have asked the following question of our local sgi representative about
- 2 weeks ago with no response (other that trying to sell their latest
- hardware :-). So maybe someone 'out there' has done what we need.
-
- We have an Indigo Elan running voxelview to process images from a
- confocal microscope. The group using this device is currently trying to
- get a high-quality output device to print images of the screen. The devices
- they are currently checking connect to the monitors RGB plugs via 'Y' cables.
- No device has yet been able to cope with the scan frequencies of the SGI
- monitor.
-
- Does anyone know what these frequencies are?
-
- I have search all our documentation for specifications on the monitor with
- no luck. It is a 19" monitor, it is definitely RGB!
-
- Now, this printing device produces 'photograph' quality output of the
- screen, however, it requires you to put the desired picture onto the monitor
- of the SGI. What I would like to do is get the same 'quality' output but have
- the printer connected to the network, either via the serial port on one of
- the UNIX boxes or else directly connected to the ethernet. It should take
- one of the well known picture format standards and must be true to all the
- colors of the screen. We have seen the output from a color postscript
- printer based on 'wax color pelets' and this was not acceptable to the
- SGI users.
-
- Can anyone suggest a suitable printer?
-
- I asked the same question of 'Vital Images' and they told me about the
- 'Codonics 600NP'. I am still waiting for the printer salesman to get back
- to me with details on this printer (1 week already). We are in a recesssion
- but salesman performance sure does not indicate it :-) I am after a list
- of viable printers and we will search for other printer suppliers in the
- new year.
-
- I will summarize printers if I get responses, so e-mail me your answers.
