- We are seeing some errors on an Indigo RPC running IRIXv4.0.1
- which appear to be related to the SIMMS. It is crashing regularly
- (several times per day). It is not convenient to do chip-by-chip
- testing so I thought I would ask the opinion of the list. We have
- four 4M SIMM chips in one bank for 16M of memory.
-
- Note that we have had this Indigo for about a year (maintenance
- contract just ran out) and this started happening after it was shutdown
- and power cycled. Here are some excerpts from the SYSLOG (no other
- interesting messages) after two different crashes:
-
- Dec 2 16:45:27 cirdan PANIC: IRIX Killed due to Memory Error
-
- Dec 9 02:05:42 cirdan unix: Parity Error in SIMM
-
- Is there a test in diag mode for checking them? It passes the
- default test without problems. Is there a convenient way to identify
- the faulty chip other than swapping them one-at-a-time?
