- Interesting...I was thinking the same thing. I am amazed at a lot of the
- ads I see for NextStep programmers. They want 2-3 years NextStep
- programming experience. Are they serious? Most people with that much
- NextStep programming experience are independent third party developers by
- now. I wonder if these requirements are written up by personnel people who
- are used to writing requirements for standard Unix positions?
-
- Another problem is, if they want consultants, they all want on-site
- consultants. I've responded to every single one of these ads for part-time
- consulting work. NO GO! I have lots of experience, I am highly motivated,
- and I am working in a great Next environment here at the University. I
- have some spare time, and I need some spare money. But apparently there is
- no telecommuting consulting market in the Next community. Another big
- problem for a new platform.
-
- Moral for employers having problems looking for NextStep programmers: try
- a little bit more flexibility in the job requirements for a couple of
- years. THEN GET TOUGH!
