1.  The book was officially released today.  The earlier release
announcement was the publishing equivalent of vaporware.

2.  Springer-Verlag expects to ship our initial order for 45 copies
by Wednesday at the latest, and we will re-ship them to our Usenet
customers as soon as they arrive.

PRICE INCREASE

3.  Re-orders will necessarily be in smaller quantities, since I'm
not willing to risk getting stuck with 30 copies on the shelf here.
That means a much smaller discount.  Already, 39 of our 45 copies
have been ordered by Usenet people.  Thus, our $37 price is good
only for the next 6 orders to arrive here by e-mail.  After that,
the price goes up to $40 including U.S. delivery, with a $10 charge
for foreign shipments.  After giving effect to the price increase,
Washington State orders will require $3.28 sales tax ($43.28
total).

If you intend to order at all, I'd suggest doing it as soon as you
read this.  Even then, please let me know whether it's okay to
handle your order at the $40 price if six people beat you to it.
The $40 price is still $2.45, or almost 6%, less than the
publisher's price with U.S. shipping, and you get the benefit of
convenient, accurate, and reliable ordering by e-mail.  I really
doubt, given this publisher's discount schedule, that the book will
be available in any bookstore for less than list price.

In addition, I'm no longer willing to accept orders except by
e-mail, as they are much more disruptive to my workday, which is
supposed to consist primarily of brilliant investing, reading these
books, and writing great applications, not selling books.  If you
are afraid to send your credit card number by e-mail, please phone
the publisher and place your order there for $42.45.

Please be careful doing this; we got two bad credit card numbers
(both from a single digit mis-typed) and two bad e-mail addresses
among the Next Docs orders.  No big deal, but it slows things down
and means extra work for both of us.

On this book, we'll accept overseas orders for $10 additional.
