- I am looking into a 486 system for home use that I will be able to
- use NS486 on when it comes out. I thought that this would be a simple
- purchase. Ugh! Now I remember why I abandoned PCs 3 years ago to
- purchase a real NeXT! Trying to spec out a system now that I am
- confident will run NS486 next year is a nightmare. First, it is
- difficult to get a "fact sheet" that is factual about what is needed.
- There are some incredible discussions going on in the intel and ibm
- newgroups about NS486. That is the good news, they certainly are
- aware of it and are interested!. The big discussion right now is the
- Cyrix 486SLC chip versus "real" 486SX & 486DX chips. There is also
- confusion about video cards and bus requirements.
-
- If anyone in NeXT_Land can provide a clear statement about hardware
- requirements for NS486, it would be a huge contribution.
