- Hi All,
-
- There has been some discussion recently about RAM disks, I
- had a couple of questions that I hope people can answer. I
- have a IIsi with 17K of RAM and a 110 Meg hard disk. I am
- running system 7. My work consists mainly of using PageMaker,
- Quicken and games (esp. Hellcats!! ;-) ). I would like to get
- a performance improvement. I have thought about buying a Daystar
- Cache Card, a friend has a IIci Daystar Fast Cache Card that they
- do not need so all I need to buy is the IIsi dual port adapter.
- I have also thought about adding a RAM disk. I downloaded one of
- the shareware ramdisks (ramdiskplus3.17.sit.hqx) and it seems like
- it might be just the thing I need. Has anyone used this and how
- do you like it? It seemed like if I was using PageMaker under the
- RAM disk and I created a file that I would have to remember to move
- it by hand to my hard drive or it would be lost...is this right? How
- safe is it to have a RAM disk? Any and all information on this subject
- would be welcome. e-mail is preferred but I do read this group...Oh,
- one last question...Sometimes when I download a file and try to unbinhex
- it, it fails giving me the message "EOF error" what is this and what
- can I do about it? Thanks for any help!
-
- Cheers,
