- There appears to be a bunch of mis-information about IIvx display
- capabilities.
- I hope I can clear a few up.
-
- With 512K of VRAM installed, the following monitors and pixel depths
- are supported:
-
- 12" RGB, 512 x 384 pixels @ up to 16 bpp
- 12" monochrome, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 8 bpp
- 13" RGB, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 8 bpp
- 14" RGB, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 8 bpp
- VGA timing, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 8 bpp
-
- With 1 MB of VRAM installed, the following monitors and pixel depths
- are supported:
-
- 12" RGB, 512 x 384 pixels @ up to 16 bpp
- 12" monochrome, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 16 bpp
- 13" RGB, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 16 bpp
- 14" RGB, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 16 bpp
- VGA timing, 640 x 480 pixels @ up to 16 bpp
-
-
- VGA timing uses a 25.175 MHz pixel rate and generates sync pulses so most
- standard VGA displays can be connected. Note that if you buy a multi-sync
- display with the connector adapter to plug into the Mac, the monitor ID
- bits
- on the adapter identify the display as a 13" RGB with Mac timing. This is
- not
- the same as VGA timing.
-
- The on board video of the IIvx will not support the APPLE 16" video
- display.
- Third party 16" displays that imitate the 13" display may work, but you
- are
- still limited to 640 x 480 pixels maximum.
-
- If you want to use the Apple 16" display, you will need to purchase the
- 8-24
- display card or a third party video card that supports the 16" display.
