  13. I just put System 7.0.1 plus Tuner on my Mac II.

  15. I purchased a MC68881 PMMU for $89 quite some time ago in anticipation
  16. of this event.  I don't remember the dealer.  You don't really need
  17. it, though, unless you need virtual memory.

  19. I like the features of System 7, although it seems to drag the speed
  20. down considerably, although primarily in the Finder (e.g., scrolling
  21. through a huge pile of icons is downright painful.)  I've noticed
  22. that keeping my Mac in 16 color mode makes life almost livable.  Why
  23. this sudden increase in processor consumption?  Is there anything I
  24. can do about it?

  26. I'm also using Mode32.  However, I'm unsure as to whether or not I
  27. should be in 24-bit or 32-bit addressing mode.  As far as I can tell,
  28. the only advantage to 32-bit is the ability to use over 13mb of virtual
  29. or 8mb of real memory.  Does it have any other advantages?

  31. I managed to get Sys 7.0.1 on by segmenting the 1400k image files and 
  32. copying them to my hard drive (I don't have a FDHD.)  I used MountImage
  33. to mount them as disks and installed that way.
