- Yow! My local Apple dealer still wants $500 to upgrade the
- floppy drive in my Mac II to a FDHD drive. I find this absurd
- since I get can a used Classic or SE w/FDHD for not much more.
- A friend of mine claims that I can put a high density drive
- in my Mac II and it will work just fine without the chip
- upgrade. The only hitch is it can't act as a "Super Drive."
- Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know of cheaper alternatives
- (I know of AE's external drive for around $300, the only drawback
- being you cant boot off of it). Can I get the upgrade for less
- than $500? MacWorld lists the Mac II FDHD upgrade as one of the
- most popular hardware purchases last month. Are people shelling
- out $500 for it? Thanks in advance for any info!
