  13.    Here is a message for those of you who have the new Duo's.  (I am not
  14. sure if this applies to other Mac's running system 7.1).
  15.   DO NOT install Before Dark on your machine.  For those who don't know,
  16. Before Dark is a nifty shareware program that replaces the standard desktop
  17. pattern with a variety of neat looking patterns.
  18.   Here is the problem.  Somehow Before Dark modifies the system (I am not a
  19. programmer) so that when you are forced to do a hard shutdown during a
  20. system freeze the hard drive will not longer boot.  In fact, booting off
  21. the Disk Tools floppy responds with the message "This Disk is damaged, do
  22. you want to Initialize".  I ran MacTools 2.0 on it and it said that the
  23. Volume Information Block was damaged.  Fortunately it can repair it but you
  24. first have to somehow run MacTools DiskFix from another Hard drive. 
  25. Putting it on a minimal 7.1 floppy will not fit.  I am not sure what other
  26. desktop modifying programs do.
  27.   Hopefully this will save someone from having many headaches.
