  11. Hi. I have a Mac Classic II and I'm considering purchasing a hand held
  12. scanner in the near future just to have some fun with.  Ideally, I'd
  13. like one that could scan both text (OCR recognition) and graphics
  14. (at least at 360 dpi, since I have a Stylewriter).

  16. Two scanners I saw advertised in Macwarehouse which fit these descriptions
  17. are:

  23. I have the following questions and would appreciate answers to them:

  25. 1.  Has anyone tried either one of these scanners, both to scan text and
  26.     to scan graphics?  Were there any difficulties?

  28. 2.  Is it possible to scan a document containing both text and graphics
  29.     so that the text is scanned as text and the graphics as graphics? Or
  30.     does such a document need to be scanned as all graphics?
  31.  
  32. 3.  Do these scanners come with software, or does one need to buy it
  33.     separately? Which software is best for these type of scanners?
  34.     If the scanners come with software, which one of the two comes
  35.     with the better software?

  37. 4.  Where is the best place to purchase these scanners? Has anyone seen
  38.     them advertised for less than the Macwarehouse prices?
  39.  
  40. 5.  Should prices of the scanners continue to go down in the near future?
  41.     Is it worth buying now if I don't have any immediate need for one?

  43. 6.  Are there any other scanners in the same price range which are better
  44.     than the two mentioned above?
