- Umm, is Bell-Northern a company and would writing this kernal be part
- of your job? (serious questions)
- If so, a purchased kernal would be much more cost effective IMHO.
- I'm not pad an outrageous salary, and I know that for what it costs
- my company to have me sitting here writing code for a month, you can
- easily purchase any of the "low end" kernals ($300-$3000) which typicaly
- include source code and very liberal liscensces.
-
- I'd say that unless have a very unique need, or want the experience
- of writing your own kernal (certainly a legitimate desire), buying one
- would be the way to go. Not to say that a PD kernal wouldn't be
- good also, if one is available.
-
- For a good range of low-cost commercial kernals, see any recent issue
- of "Embedded Systems Programming" magazine, "Circuit Cellar Ink", etc.
-
- Note: I have no commercial interest in any kernal vendor or magazine.
- We do use a commercial kernal, and have been pleased.
