- To be more precise, the 68705 chips are derivatives of the 6805, which
- is itself microcontroller derivative of the 6800. The 7 in the device
- number show that it has on-chip EPROM. The 6805 family, BTW, is HUGE,
- with over 95 versions/variants, all based on the same instruction-set
- compatible 6805 core.
-
- As for HLL tools, I know of one company only that offer 6805 C compilers:
- Byte-Craft Ltd, a small but very interesting Canadian company run by a
- fellow named Walter Banks. Look for their add in Embedded Systems Prog.
- I'll also try to find their address and phone and post it next week.
-
- Now for a discussion of netiquette, etc. Why do 8-bitters keep posting
- to this group? Why are there only 680x0 an 6809 groups when there are
- millions of 6800, 6802, 6805, 68hc11, etc. applications, while only
- Color Computer people still use the 6809 (Sorry Ritter)?
-
- Shouldn't someone establish an 8-bit Motorola news group or just lump
- all th 68XX derivatives under comp.sys.6800?
-
- Just my quarter-byte.
