- This has been discussed many times here before, and no, there never has
- been a good explanation. In any case, I've found two situations which
- alleviate the problem:

- 1) Strangely, the first floppy access in a Windows DOS Box is slightly
- faster than outside Windows, although it's still rather slow.

- 2) Running SuperPCKwik with all the "Fast" options makes an enormous
- difference. You'll forget there was ever a problem.

- 3) OK, THREE situations. Formatting disks with FDFORMAT will generally
- make sequential disk accesses (large file read/writes) faster, but probably
- doesn't do much for the first access.
