- Microlab excepted, of course! They screwed me big time last month.
- Now I'm stuck with a video card I did not want, and they've gone out
- of business (anyone want a Stealth VRAM for $175?). Earlier this
- year we got a 486DX2/50 from Gateway. They were terrible about
- their "estimated" delivery time. I was promised a system in 2-3
- weeks, but it took 2 months to ship. I can't complain about the
- post sales service because their tech support personnell are
- courteous and generally competent. I hate having to hold for a
- long time, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

- Fortunately, with local vendors you have a recourse. If you use
- a credit card, and they are located less than 50 miles from your
- home, in the worst case you only pay $50 of the total bill if
- they fail to resolve a dispute. There is also the BBB, and your
- friendly neighborhood state Attorney General's consumer protection
- division. With mail order, your only protection is the credit
- card company, and I'm testing that right now with the Microlab
- case.
