  18. In a 486 chip-set comparisson in the c't (German magazine), the author claimed
  19. that it is possible for a well designed 33MHz 486DX motherboard to run without
  20. external cache. The reason that even 25MHz 486s have external caches is a)
  21. mainly for marketing reasons and b) because they are not well designed. The
  22. 33MHz 486 will run slower, but not more than at most 10% but would be
  23. significantly cheaper.
