- Ladies and Gentlemen,
-
- Here are the responses for a question I posted on November 1992.
-
- >My supplier is offering me an excellent deal on the DEICO

- >me that this motherboard is as good as these two, and that it is

- I own a DEICO Predator I. I've had no problems whatsoever.
- The deciding factors in purchasing it were:
-
- Uses their own MB design, not the design of the chipset maker.
- Has their own tech support and BBS line
- Flash BIOS capability
- 16 SIMM slots
- 386/486 support up to 50MHz
- This board was chosen by Cyrix to test Intel compatibility (Cyrix told me that)
- 2-yr warranty
-
- Me personally, I'd stack this board up against any other. My opinion only.

- Several months ago COMPUTER SHOPPER reviewed a DEICO system in an
- article about upgrades from 486SX25 to Overdrive processor. The results
- were very bad. However in several PC articles the DEICO motherboard
- showed amazingly good results. I am sorry I do not have the months of
- the articles. You might find them in a library. I would appreciate
- it if you could tell me what you learn. I would like a new motherboard
- but have shied away from DEICO because of the COMPUTER SHOPPER results.
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- I had a Deico 386SX-16/20 motherboard for a while. Their tech support
- was nonexistant while I was trying to figure out why my STB PowerGraph
- was benchmarking so much slower than anyone else's (very slow I/O bus,
- as it turns out.. lots of wait states, etc). I'd call up, even had a
- STB tech call them up, and they'd say "Call you right back" and wouldn't.
-
- You might try getting one and thoroughly test it, comparing it to your
- other boards.. Deico may have improved over the past year or two.
- Otherwise, I'd steer clear of the bastards.

- Thank you to those who responded.
