  30. I own a DEICO Predator I. I've had no problems whatsoever. 
  31. The deciding factors in purchasing it were:

  33. Uses their own MB design, not the design of the chipset maker.
  34. Has their own tech support and BBS line
  35. Flash BIOS capability
  36. 16 SIMM slots
  37. 386/486 support up to 50MHz
  38. This board was chosen by Cyrix to test Intel compatibility (Cyrix told me that)
  39. 2-yr warranty

  41. Me personally, I'd stack this board up against any other. My opinion only.

  43. Several months ago COMPUTER SHOPPER reviewed a DEICO system in an
  44. article about upgrades from 486SX25 to Overdrive processor.  The results
  45. were very bad.  However in several PC articles the DEICO motherboard
  46. showed amazingly good results.  I am sorry I do not have the months of
  47. the articles.  You might find them in a library.  I would appreciate
  48. it if you could tell me what you learn.  I would like a new motherboard
  49. but have shied away from DEICO because of the COMPUTER SHOPPER results.

  51. I had a Deico 386SX-16/20 motherboard for a while.  Their tech support 
  52. was nonexistant while I was trying to figure out why my STB PowerGraph
  53. was benchmarking so much slower than anyone else's (very slow I/O bus,
  54. as it turns out.. lots of wait states, etc).  I'd call up, even had a
  55. STB tech call them up, and they'd say "Call you right back" and wouldn't.

  57. You might try getting one and thoroughly test it, comparing it to your
  58. other boards.. Deico may have improved over the past year or two.  
  59. Otherwise, I'd steer clear of the bastards.
