-
- Check out comp.sys.ibm.pc.soundcard for a more detailed description of
- this fantastic soundcard. Or you can ftp to archive.epas.utoronto.ca
- (128.100.160.36) and get a few reviews from the pub/pc/ultrasound directory.
-
- First off, the Gravis UltraSound is made by Advanced Gravis, an affiliate of
- Logitech and offers the most bang for the buck in any sound card range.
- There are quite a big number of us UltraSound owners on the net, and
- we will be more than happy to offer you any details about the card.
- Basically in its native mode, the GUS(as it is affectionately called) beats
- the pants off the SB/SBPro/TB/PAS16 and the like but the SB emulation
- software is still being improved.(It still has a few problems with one or two
- games that support the SB)
-
- Software support for the GUS in native mode is still but a few, with only
- Star Control 2 and Chuck Yeager's Flight Combat being the only two at the
- time being. (For a card which is about 2 months old, this is quite a lot...)
- More will be forthcoming...
-
- >Any recommendations for a good sound board?
- Good is pretty subjective nowadays. What do you want it for? Playing the
- current SB games? MIDI? As I said, you can get a lot more info in csip.soundcard.
