- Sometimes yes, sometimes no. An XT cannot run Win 3.1, but IMHO an XT was a
- piece of shit. My Apple //e performed better. Now starting with the 386,
- really, you will see reasonable backward compatibility for quite some time,
- I think.

- Sorry, I disagree. It is the users who make this push, with the hunger for
- more power in the code. It is true that you can write highly optimized code
- that is faster than Windows, but not with all of the software-connectivity
- that Windows has. Suddenly when you buy new software, you don't have to
- pick mouse, printer, graphics, sound, etc... drivers for each one. You just
- do it and it's done. That's where the HP's are going.
