- Hi,
-
- I asked about putting a high density drive on an XT before and
- people assured me it should be possible (my thoughts exactly).
- However, when I got to try it yesterday, all the machine
- came up with was general failure... It noticed properly
- if the drive wasn't ready and the drive light functioned
- ok when the disk was accessed, so I am assuming it doesn't
- handle the drives signals properly.
-
- The drive is a chinon model FZ-357. It has several jumpers:
-
- MM/MD - set to MM
- RDY/DC - set to DC
- TTL/C-MOS - set tot TTL
- DS0/DS1/DS2/DS3 - set to DS1
-
- if someone has any information on this drive or what the
- abbreviations could mean, please share.
-
- The target machine is an 8088 clone with an AMI bios for
- Superwave electronics, dated 1987 and numbered 1150-050687.
- The floppies are driven by a multi i/o card with a game port
- two serial ports, a parallel port and a floppy controler.
- There where two 5.25 drives on the system previously.
- I also set the drivparm = /F:2 /D:1
-
- If you can see the problem here, please let me know
-
- Thanks
- Erik
