  14. I asked about putting a high density drive on an XT before and
  15. people assured me it should be possible (my thoughts exactly).
  16. However, when I got to try it yesterday, all the machine
  17. came up with was general failure... It noticed properly
  18. if the drive wasn't ready and the drive light functioned
  19. ok when the disk was accessed, so I am assuming it doesn't
  20. handle the drives signals properly.

  22. The drive is a chinon model FZ-357. It has several jumpers:

  24. MM/MD - set to MM
  25. RDY/DC - set to DC
  26. TTL/C-MOS - set tot TTL
  27. DS0/DS1/DS2/DS3 - set to DS1
  28.  
  29. if someone has any information on this drive or what the
  30. abbreviations could mean, please share.

  32. The target machine is an 8088 clone with an AMI bios for 
  33. Superwave electronics, dated 1987 and numbered 1150-050687.
  34. The floppies are driven by a multi i/o card with a game port
  35. two serial ports, a parallel port and a floppy controler.
  36. There where two 5.25 drives on the system previously.
  37. I also set the drivparm = /F:2 /D:1
