I have seen a few other msgs on this so I'll add mine too.
I have a pre-release version of 9.0 on a 720. The production version will have some differences but I doubt the MIT clients will change.
The O'Reilly X Window System Admin book mentions the MIT clients fsinfo, fslsfonts, and fstobdf. Those aren't in 9.0. How do we troubleshoot fs without them?
bitmap and xdpyinfo are in 9.0 but are found under /usr/contrib/bin/X11; these are found in the O'Reilly X11r4 User Guide and also in export.lcs.mit.edu under a clients and not a contrib area, so should they be under /usr/bin/X11 instead?
This inconsistency in the paths as compared to standard practice makes system admin difficult in a heterogeneous environment.
Some r4 clients missing are xkill, appres, editres, listres, and xedit. These were also in the export.lcs.mit.edu clients area and not contrib, and so I suppose they are part of the actual MIT distribution and not contrib.
To be fair, I notice AIX 3.2 is missing some of these too, and Sun also I presume (haven't inventoried).
The question is not where to find these pieces via anon ftp or whatever but why not have a complete and standard MIT setup on each vendor's systems. If a major company has to try compiling and distributing these things for each operating system version things get expensive and complicated in a hurry.
