- This sounds like the parallel port overload problem, described in ST
- Applications no 2 under the heading "ST Parallel Port Buffer".

- The basic problem is that the parallel port output lines are
- unbuffered, and driven directly from the sound chip. Different
- printers draw different loads, with non-Atari lasers and inkjets being
- worse than dot matrix printers.

- The solution illustrated in the article is to buffer all outgoing
- lines, using the printer's NOT ERROR line as a power supply. I have
- bought the pieces but never put the buffer together, becuase the laser
- printer landed on a borrowed PC instead of on the ST. (Word Perfect
- does a very good job of font management!)
