- with ads, that you couldn't flip through it, because the fat Gateway and
- direct-mail company ads would get stuck on your flippingfinger. So we
- stopped subscribing. Now we read InfoWorld for our info, which, IMHO
- is probably closest to being "non-specific." Although, sad to say, they have
- been going for the big inserts lately (even Am*ga had an insert !?)

- But I digress. I think this situation is merely symptomatic of the intellectual
- monopoly that the IBM mindset has upon the world (did you ever read _The_Three_
- Stigmata_of_Palmer_Eldritch_ by Philip K. Dick? This is a good metaphor for
- what is happening in the computing world :-)

- I find that the only solace from this PC-centered mess is the virtual
- world of publication. Nothing can beat Usenet for its dynamicism and quick
- response time. I find myself reading the editorial page of the newspaper and
- looking for the "respond to this article" key.

- I used to publish a 'zine called "HeadCheck." It's easy and cheap to do a
- small 'zine, but you're not gonna make any $$$ off it. Well, who knows?
