- I just got a brand new rev D. RamFAST card (3.0l ROMs). I'm rather
- pleased with it overall, except that I'm getting some rather strange
- behavior. Right now I have DMA turned off, and everything seems fine.
- When I have DMA on, things will run for a while, but then something
- inevitably bombs. Sometimes it's nice, like a "GS/OS fatal error" or
- somesuch. Sometimes the system just freezes during or after disk
- access.
-
- My system:
- s7: RamFAST (Conner 3200 at id 6, Seagate ST1096N at id 5)
- s4: SuperSonic with digitizer (yeah, that's the problem :-)
- s3: ZipGS 9/64K (board v1.02)
- ram slot: GSSauce with 4megs
- diskport: Apple 3.5" and AE 5.25"
- modemport: uuh, modem
- joyport: ya, the joystick
-
- I'm thinking of sending the RF back to CVT, and have them look at
- it, or ship me a new one. I used to have Apple's DMA SCSI card, and
- never had a single crash, so I think it's gotta be the RF. But then
- again, the very first problem I had seemed like the Zip was fried.
- Ever since then, it seems like the RF. Is it possible that when the
- RF DMAs, sometimes the Zip toasts the data? Hell, I dunno. I'd
- rather not lose time by shipping the card away, but I'm getting more
- worried about the crashes...
-
- Does anyone have any insights?
