  13. Well, some people have probs with Supra v.32bis modems and some do not.  If
  14. you have, then I can see why you are upset with these products.  My Supra
  15. v.32bis modem has worked pretty well, both before and after getting the
  16. free ROM upgrade.

  18. I've found two things that can eliminate *some* of the problems you
  19. mention:  1) always dial in at 4800 baud... the modems will soon shift up
  20. to 14.4k baud but the initial connect seems more stable; and 2) use the
  21. proper modem setup string... I use "AT&F2W2s9=10%G1%E1" and it seems to
  22. work pretty well.  It's not perfect but it works most of the time.  I agree
  23. that it *should* function flawlessly ALL the time but it doesn't.  Line
  24. noise?  Not bloody likely... unless when you lift the phone, you hear
  25. static sizzling in the background.  Getting 14,400 baud over standard phone
  26. lines IS pretty amazing.  Remember when Ma Bell said that 1200 baud would
  27. be about the limit for a standard phone line for computer communications?
