- How nice to know that we have an impartial survey-taker...NOT!
-
- I have one of the earliest Supra V.32bis modems (serial #988). The
- 1.0C ROMs that were in it when it shipped had a minor quirk related to
- MNP...sometimes the modem would hang with garbage in the display.
- (Keep in mind that this was an infrequent problem--on average, less
- than once a month while the old ROMs were installed.) 1.2H ROMs
- arrived here a month or two ago. They installed with no fuss and the
- modem has been knock-on-wood reliable ever since. I've run a BBS with
- this modem since it arrived and have never had setup or configuration
- problems with it (used with a 286-12 IBM clone running DR DOS 6.0 and
- DESQview). I'd buy another one if I had the $$$ and I'd recommend
- Supra to anyone in the market for a V.32bis modem with no
- reservations.
-
- Problems with high-speed modems (whether from Supra or from other
- manufacturers) usually result from improper configuration. Mac users
- are especially likely to run into trouble due to the screwy serial
- ports on that machine. You (the original poster, that is) run an
- Amiga...I don't know if that machine uses standard DB-25 serial
- connectors or if they, like the Mac, use some harebrained connection
- scheme that makes life more complicated than it should be. :-)
