- I have had my A500 for about 4 years now. I do so much on it now
- (especially with networking) that I require more POWER! Things like a
- hard drive and lots of RAM seem necessary. I am considering buying
- either an A2000 or A3000. Of course, many things go into consideration
- here. First, are there student discounts offered for either of these
- machines? If there are, what kind of discounts are they (i.e. what %
- off list price)?
-
- I need more speed (preferably, 25 mhz). An accelerator would do this
- (for $500 at least). I have seen 32 bit 25 mhz accelerators for an
- A2000. This would increase the speed considerably not only because of
- the mhz increase, but also because of the step up from 16 to 32 bits
- (please correct me if I am mistaking).
-
- A major factor is emulation. I would like to have this new Amiga
- accurately (not perfectly, I realize) emulate an IBM and MAC. Is this
- asking too much? I know there are AT bridgeboards out there. How good
- do they work? What kind of processers can you get with these
- bridgeboards (i.e. 286,386,486!?)? Also, I know the Amiga uses a
- similar, if not identical, processer as the Mac (depending of the
- models). Is there software emulation available to make my Amiga run
- Macintosh programs? If so, how good is it? What kind of Mac does it
- emulate? These emulation concerns are important to me. I like Amigas
- very much, and would like to buy another one. However, IBM and Mac both
- offer some software which is useful to me. A happy medium would be
- good. I'm not looking for perfect emulation, of course.
-
- What's the right choice for me?
