- I would be grateful if an A3000 owner could mail me the answers to the questions
- below. I have appended my current beliefs of the answers in brackets.
-
- 1. Is the A3000 capable of Super72 mode under 2.0? If so, in how many colours?
- If not, will it work under 2.1, 3.0? Will Workbench run in this mode?
- (Yes, Up to 16, (Yes), (Yes), Yes )
-
- 2. Can a PC Trisync (SVGA) monitor display Productivity and Super72?
- (Yes, Yes)
-
- 3. Can a PC TriSync display deinterlaced PAL/NTSC from the Amber output, and/or the
- AGA DblPal etc. modes?
- (Maybe)
-
- 3.5. How is the A3000 deinterlacer controlled? Can an autoboot game be forced to use
- it? Can DTP etc. packages (e.g. ProPage) be used with it? Can a large virtual screen
- be force-promoted to Super72?
- (Battery-backed RAM, Probably, Yes, Yes - With PD Utility)
-
- 4. Does an A3000 have space for mounting a 5 1/4" drive like a Syquest internally,
- whilst allowing access to the drive to change cartridges?
- (No)
-
- 5. Is there an external SCSI connector, what form does it take, and what is needed to
- activate it?
- (Yes, unknown, remove internal drive terminators)
-
- 6. In January I am planning to upgrade my current system (A500+, 6MB, 52MB HD, 68030
- 33MHz with MMU, 1084-equivalent PAL/NTSC monitor) with a budget of about L600. This
- will stretch to cover a new A3000/25 and Trisync on trade-in, or more comfortably a
- second hand 3000, but I can't afford a 4000. Am I better to go for a new 3000, a 2nd
- hand 3000 or wait and see if CBM brings out an A4000/030 or similar (would need to be
- at current A3000/25 price level, which is L1299 ($2100) here).
- (Anyone's guess I suspect)
-
- 7. For the future, will the A4000 processor card work in the A3000 under 3.0?
- (Possibly)
-
- Cheers in advance,
- Dave
