  12. There seem to be at least two utilities now that handle AGA animation:
  13. ViewTek, and the newest PPShow.  Both are freely distributable.

  15. I did some tests with each one, and it seems that PPShow shows AGA
  16. animations *radically* faster than VT does.  From viewing them, it seems
  17. like there is roughly a 4 to 6X speed difference between the two.
  18. PPShow could display my 640x400xHAM8 animation at about 4 FPS, and VT
  19. could not even manage 1 FS.  Similar results for lower resolutions, and
  20. PPShow also handles palette changes between frames.

  22. On the other hand, VT displays more still image types than PPShow does,
  23. so it is plenty worth having.

  25. Alas, neither one permits direct from HD animation...

  27. Anyway, if you want to show AGA anims, I suggest using PPShow instead of
  28. VT for the task.
