- I recently fitted RISC OS 3.1, and it felt slower to me too.
-
- If you want it to 'feel' as fast as it did under RISC OS 2,
- RMFaster the following modules before entering the desktop, in
- approx. decreasing order of subjective speed improvement:
-
- WindowManager
- WindowUtils
- FontManager
- MessageTrans
-
- Moving windows, redraws, etc, now seem almost as fast as RISC OS 2,
- all for the price of a couple of hundred Kb of RAM.
-
- Most importantly, the boot-up title page gets drawn _much_ faster. :-)
-
- If you use Ran's version of !Usage, then if you RmFaster FilterManager
- as well, !Usage uses half as many CPU cycles obtaining the usage
- information.
-
- Seasons Greetings,
- Stuart
-
- PS Don't use rmkill on MessageTrans or Resourcefs. Loosing either
- of these modules leaves the machine in a very undesirable condition...
