  13. I recently fitted RISC OS 3.1, and it felt slower to me too.

  15. If you want it to 'feel' as fast as it did under RISC OS 2,
  16. RMFaster the following modules before entering the desktop, in
  17. approx. decreasing order of subjective speed improvement:

  19.     WindowManager
  20.     WindowUtils
  21.     FontManager
  22.     MessageTrans
  23.  
  24. Moving windows, redraws, etc, now seem almost as fast as RISC OS 2,
  25. all for the price of a couple of hundred Kb of RAM.

  27. Most importantly, the boot-up title page gets drawn _much_ faster. :-)

  29. If you use Ran's version of !Usage, then if you RmFaster FilterManager
  30. as well, !Usage uses half as many CPU cycles obtaining the usage
  31. information.

  36. PS Don't use rmkill on MessageTrans or Resourcefs. Loosing either
  37. of these modules leaves the machine in a very undesirable condition...
